He Got Game

Hapenned to watch this move of Denzel, yesterday, on Zee Movies channel.

Denzel plays the role of a father who accidentally kills his wife in a family dispute.
He is sentenced for life. He would be out of prison if he can get his son play basket ball for the Governor's school.

The end of the movie is quite dramatic.
Guess this movie dint do well on the box office, coz I had never heard about this movie before. Denzel's performance has been badly underrated in this movie.

Denzel's "Out Of Time"

I watched two of Denzel's movies over this weekend. The first one was the suspense thriller "Out of Time" and the other "The Philadelphia" which was a serious drama with fabulous court scenes.

Out of Time is a story about a Police chief who has to solve a murder case when all the possible evidences are pointing to him. The story is all about how he stays ahead of his own police team to find the murderer , before he runs "Out of Time" and be convicted.

I liked the character Chea. His dialogues and the delivery style were cool. I liked the way he says "Would you have given it to me if I slept with you? " when Denzel gives the money confiscated from drug dealers to his mistress. And the innocense with which he says "Those assholes from the DEA are at xxxx, Southeast 63rd street." in front of the DEA officers.

And Denzel was asusual at his best. His expressions were the best in the scene when he tries to delete his phone numbers from the incoming call list. The fear of being caught by his wife, eagerness to remove all the evidences pointing to him were clear on his eyes. He is just too good.

This movie was ripped and remade in Hindi as Zeher by Mahesh Bhatt. I guess the whole of Mahesh Bhatt's team would have sat in front of the home theatre and made detailed plan for ripping each scene or frame of this movie. And how the #*?& could they think of casting Emran Hashmi in Denzel's role........

Carbon Copy

Denzel's first movie was released on the year I was born!!

I wish to see his movie , Carbon Copy, where Denzel plays a teen.
Carbon Copy is Denzel's first big screen movie.

I would like to see how Denzel brings a smile on his fan's face in this comic role. It would be a great change to see him in such a light role, after watching him steal the show in the dramas like The Hurricane , Courage under Fire etc.

Is it his smile?

From this blog, you would have by now understood how much I am attracted to Denzel. Well, this attraction is not entirely cause of charm he has when he is on screen.

It is mainly cause of his left eye , when he smiles. Has anyone noticed that one small crooked drop of his left eye lid when he smiles. That small crooked drop of his left eye lid adds charm to his so symmetric facial feature.

May be .. God dint want to make this "My Man" to be the most perfect being, so he decided to give him this left eye lid a small drop. I thank God for having done that, coz this smile does drive many ( to be read as PREETHE) crazy.

Portraying Real People

Looks like Denzel enjoys portraying real people.
He played Reuben Carter in The Hurricane, Malcolm X in Malcolm X and Frank Lucas in American Gangster.

Denzel says

A film is just like a muffin. You make it. You put it on the table. One person might say, "Oh, I don't like it". One might say it's the best muffin ever made. One might say it's an awful muffin. It's hard for me to say. It's for me to make the muffin.

Acting is just a job. It's an extraordinary job, but it's a job.

Denzel Washington Quotes

Found some of denzel's personal quotes on this site.
They are very interesting

Denzel - Part 3

I watched the movie Dejavu last weekend. It was truely wonderful.
While reading about this movie in IMDB, I happened to see Denzel's biography on IMDB. Thanks to IMDB!! I have 288 photos of Denzel now to droool over.

I also happened to see some of his personal quotes. I liked all of them .. The best are ...

Acting is just a way of making a living, the family is life.

[on where he likes to keep his Oscars] "Next to each other."

(In 1998) "Acting's like someone asking you for years to write the characters, but they write the book.

I'm very proud to be black, but black is not all I am. That's my cultural historical background, my genetic makeup, but it's not all of who I am or it the basis from which I answer every question.

My next goal is to read the book "A Hand to Guide Me" by Denzel with Daniel Paisner.
I dint find it on esnips. Can somebody tell me from where I can download it.. please

Denzel - Part 2 - My Man

Watched Denzel Washington's American Gangster.
Watched it more than 10 times over the last 2 weeks.
I fell "head over heal" every time I hear him say "My Man"

He is just too good. Wonder how he missed the Oscar for this
I liked the scene , where he speaks to a character "Dominic" after an attempt was made to kill his wife by some opponent. His expressions were so correct and apt.

I loved his dialogue delivery, especially when he says "This is my home. This is where my business is, my wife, my mother, my family. This is my country, I ain't goin' nowhere"

And of course every time he said "My Man" I went bonkers

Denzel - Part 1

Watched the movie Crimson Tide over the weekend

There are some great dialogues in this movie..

We're here to preserve democracy, not practice it.

I expect and demand your very best. Anything less, you should have joined
the Air Force.

And ofcourse ... Denzel was mind blowing
Found a few photos of this handsome on net ..Some of my Favourites!!
